PayPal Chargebacks

How to Deal With PayPal Chargebacks

If you are a producer or beat maker, you may not have dealt with a PayPal chargeback, while selling your beats online. With hundreds of websites that allow you to upload beats to sell, you can inevitably in a situation where you run with a PayPal chargeback much. As owner and producer of Fast Free Beats, LLC, proudly, that I myself in a good business practice and do everything in my power to ensure that customers are satisfied when they buy beats. But in December 2010, I encounter a PayPal chargeback. Here is my detailed account of how I handle the situation.

In December 2010, was an artist, my music production company called a good friend of mine. The artist is interested in some beats for sale on my SoundClick page. Seeing that this customer was a referral, I was about the possibility of selling beats excited. Referrals are usually the best kind of customer to have.

After contacting me by e-mail and let me know what exactly interested soundclick beats he paid to the artist by credit card and I sent him to the beats. I also sent a non-exclusive beat license agreement and paid a bill with him for his instrumentals. The total sale was for $ 99.99. After a few days ago he was contacted by text message to confirm that he received the beats. He explained that he did and he loved her. I was happy to find a satisfied customer, but unfortunately, it spiraled downhill shortly thereafter.

About a month later, I woke up an email from PayPal stating the customer number was issued a chargeback. I was disgusted to say the least! The $ 99.99 had been taken into possession and also my PayPal account into the negative! I was just really starting to make some progress in selling my beats online. I just had my first beat was in October of 2010 it sold for me a kind of slap in the face.

The understanding of the situation and how the PayPal dispute process works, I started all the necessary evidence to prove my case to collect. Due to the nature of the credit system works in America, the credit card company finally has the last word, so that whether you get your money back. PayPal acts as a middleman only original evidence.

I put the following in the PayPal Resolution Center:

All e-mail contact with the customer

Phone records of the SMS message contact with the customer

All issued e-mail contact after the chargeback was

Copies of the non-exclusive license agreement, beat, instrumental conditions and a copy of the invoice

NOTE: The above may seem like I AND BEYOND went but there is absolutely NECESSARY!
IN ORDER TO A DISPUTE As a seller, you must prove that the goods / services sold by the purchaser will WIN!

In my situation, I had to PayPal and the credit card companies, which the artist received his beats in a satisfactory condition to show.

After submitting all of my evidence I had to wait until the end of April 2011 before a decision was made on the dispute. Luckily I won the fight and was refunded my money. However, I would never want anything to any producer or beat maker sell beats online.

Here are some of the lessons I have learned from this situation:

1st Keep a good PAPER TRAIL
As a producer or beat maker, make sure your organization and paperwork together! It can potentially save you a lot of heartache! If you need legal advice on contracts, agreements, etc. looking for an entertainment lawyer cover your ass!

2nd Communicate with your customers & PayPal
I was in constant communication with PayPal during the dispute process. I followed with them often about my case and continue to try to communicate with the artist, although he somehow "disappeared" and no longer communicate with me. I made sure these "dead" e-mail conversations to PayPal as evidence for my case.

3rd CANCELLATION patiently DISPUTES
PayPal disputes seem to take forever, but you must be patient. Goes forward with your music production. Do not be a bad apple spoils the other large customers out there.

Oddly, the same customers have tried to get me through another alias Contact beats! This time he was tempted by money gram buy beats under a different name and e-mail. I soon after him, told PayPal fraud department! Haha!

I laugh at the situation now, but it was definitely a great learning experience. Hopefully you do not have a dispute like my thing, but when thus learn from my experience, so that things can go as smoothly as possible for you.
